Mike Mackenzie

Since 2002, Mike Mackenzie has brought his previous 16 years of experience as an officer in submarines with the Royal Navy to the world of corporate life to surprisingly good effect.

Surprising we say because, though full of admiration and appreciation for their service, we at PM are often just a little sceptical of former military officers who profess to know how to tell others how to run a business in civilian life.

Mike took a different route to many in going from military work to being the brilliant corporate consultant he is today. Starting out with studying for an MBA at Henley Management School, he was a real fish out of water (sorry!), mixing with business people and entrepreneurs. He used the discipline of his military programming to push himself to learn about business in every way imaginable including full time roles as a General Manager for the Bonusprint Group and Business Services Director for Carlisle Security Services.

Today he’s the perfect blend of ‘different’ with all his lessons learnt under the water leading teams in confined spaces combined with over a decade of corporate consulting work with the likes of LV, Twinings, Gulfsands Petroleum, The Red Cross and Schlumberger to name but a few.

When Mike isn’t helping organisations to develop the culture they really want, he’s got more than enough kids to keep him busy – 6 at the last count – as well as being sport mad including spending winters running around in the wet and cold as a rugby referee!
